2014 – 2015 Season Overview

NPSC season

Newport Pagnell Swimming Club have enjoyed another very successful season this year.

It all started back in October with our annual club championships, which as usual was a very successful weekend of swimming.  We celebrated the successes from this weekend at our annual Presentation Evening with lots of awards and of course dancing!

As always the Christmas Cracker was a very popular meet with many swimmers trying to gain those last minute County Times.

At the beginning of the year Rebekah Heath headed to the Olympic pool to compete in the Zonal championships.  Well done Rebekah for qualifying.

Then of course came the all important County Championships in February, held earlier than in previous years.  We had a record number of swimmers attending this year which highlights the dedication of our swimmers and the number of hours they spend training every week.  We also enjoyed the relays which sees swimmers who didn’t qualify for individual races being able to enjoy the atmosphere of the County Championships.

Next we move on to the Regional Championships.  This year we had 9 swimmers.  They all swam extremely well and enjoyed the atmosphere and of course the hoodies!  Two of our swimmers medalled in their events namely Erin Saunders and Ashley Frost.

Erin and Ashley also obtained National times and are now heading to Sheffield in August and we wish them the very best of luck!

We have also had successes at many open meets this season including Leicester Penguins, CMK, Manchester and Luton.  Also we have taken part in the Chiltern League, the highlight being winning  round 2 at Bletchley, and the Junior League.

We celebrated the end of a great season with a picnic and game of rounders on the field next to Wolverton pool.  Thank you to Emma and Sophie our Club Captains for arranging this.

Thank you to all the swimmers who have taken part in the many events this season and for their dedication to training.  Also thank you to the parents for taking them to the many different pools for training and competing.

Finally a huge thank you to all the coaches, set managers, time keepers, judges and everyone else who has volunteered this year.  Without your help none of the above would be able to happen.

We hope to see you all next season for some more great swimming and of course fun!

ASA English National Qualifiers 2015

Erin Saunders for 50m breaststroke and Ash Frost for 200m backstroke have both been invited to compete in the English Nationals. This is an outstanding achievement by both, well done Erin and Ash.

Also well done to Rebekah Heath who only missed out by 0.1 of a second.

It is also a great reflection on Carl and his coaching team. Well done

Erin, Sophie, & Dom at K2 for the South East Regional Championships 2015

This years South East regional championships saw Newport Pagnell have nine swimmers qualify for a variety of events.

Both Ash Frost and Erin Saunders won medals. Ash came 3rd in the 200m backstroke for 13 year olds and Erin 2nd in the 50m Breaststroke for 16 year olds.

Rafe Dobson who had to swim as a 12 year old gained a time to put him in the top ten nationally as an 11 year old for 200m breaststroke.

The other swimmers who qualified, Sophie Patrick, Dominic Frost, Kaity Gross, Rebekah Heath, Rhiannon Jeffreys and Josh Press all performed well and gained more valuable experience which will hopefully inspire them to keep working towards qualifying again next year.

Additionally Josh and Rafe have been selected to take part in the South east regions development programme for the top 30 regional swimmers in their age group.

They will take part in technical and educational workshops in September prescribed by the nationally focused England Programmes team to help young swimmers like themselves reach the national level and beyond.

We look forward to finding out what they have learnt.

Well done Josh and Rafe and all our other regional swimmers who can be seen below sporting their regional attire.
